Hagiang Insight The Remote Far North Trekking Tour 7days

Magnificent, beautiful landscapes, wild nature of the Chay River Massif in the far north. Discovery and experiencing of local tribal ethnics’ unique cultures and ways of life. Joining tribal ethnic peoples at one of the traditional market: Bac Ha, Can Cau, Cao Son, Lung Khau Nhin, Muong Khuong.

Day 1: Lao Cai – Regional Market of ethnic minority – Bac Ha (B;L; -)


– Arrive at Lao Cai station early in the morning. Welcomed by local tour guide, freshen up and breakfast.
– Transfer by road to one of the famous regional markets: Ban Cam on Tuesday; Cao Son on Wednesday; Lung Khau Nhin on Thursday; Can Cau on Saturday; Bac Ha or Muong Khuong on Sunday. Spend 2 to 3 hours joining the locals at the market place where tribal peoples in their best traditional costumes come once a week not only for shopping but also for socializing. Transfer to Bac Ha Town Let, check in the Sao Mai hotel for a short rest.
– Trekking around the stunning Ban Pho Valley: Shorter loops for 1,5 hours or longer loops 3 hours.
Day summary: Transfer 75 to 120 km // Trekking 1,5 – 3 hours // Grade 2 of 5 // Hotel in Bac Ha.

Day 2: Bac Ha – Quan Hoa – Lu Suoi Tung – Ta Cu Ty (B; L; D)


– Breakfast and departure at 08.30 am. Transfer ½ hour to the starting point of trekking trail in Lung Phin Commune with several photo stops along the way. There are 2 options for clietnts’ choice:
Opt 1: Hard trek:
– Start trekking along a narrow trail on steep hillsides from Quan Hoa Hamlet 2,5 hours to Lu Suoi Tung Village of the Flower H’mong.
– Trekking uphill for 1,5 hour through the forest to the top of Ta Cu Ty Mountain range(hard trek) and then downhill for 2 hours to Ta Cu Ty village of the Zao and Tay ethnic peoples. Picked up and transfer 3 km to home stay near the center of Ta Cu Ty Commune.
Opt 2: Medium trek:
– Start trekking from Ta Chai Village of the Phu La ethnic along a narrow valley through Quan Hoa Hamlet for 3 hours. Continue trekking for 2 hours and arrive to Lu Suoi Tung Village of the Flower H’mong. Walk 1 hour through this isolated village, paying visit to local school and several H’mong family for a discovery of their living way.
– Picked up at Lu Suoi Tung for 8 km road transfer to home stay near the center of Ta Cu Ty Commune. This portion of the road offers spectacular landscapes of the Ban Gia Valley and clients will enjoy many viewing stops before arriving to home stay.
Day summary: Transfer 20 km // Trekking 6 to 7 hours // Grade 3 or 4 of 5 // Home stay.

Day 3: Ta Cu Ty – Song Ngam – Nam Dan – Nam Chien (B; L; D)


– Breakfast and departure at 08.30 an. There are 2 options for clients choice:
Opt 1: Hard trek:
– The whole morning trekking along a large path with great view of the Ban Gia valley to Song Ngam village of the Nung ethnic peoples for 3 hours. Lunch break at Song Lam near the village-school.
– Challenging 2,5 hours (hard trek) over the Ta Cu Ty Mountain, through the thick bamboo and rain forest to Nam Dan Commune, famous with the rock fields bearing cared massage from ancient peoples on rocks. Then easy walk 1 hour to home stay at Nam Chien Village of the Nung.
Opt 2: Medium trek:
– The whole morning trekking along a large path with great view of the Ban Gia valley to Song Ngam village of the Nung ethnic peoples for 3 hours. Lunch break at Song Lam near the village-school.
– Continue trekking for 3 hours along the same trail via Sin Chai Village of the Flower H’mong, Zao then onto the center of Ban Ngo Commune. Picked up and transfer to Nam Dan, pay visiting the famous rock field with carving of ancient scripts. Arrive to home-stay in Nam Chien Village at about 05.30 pm.
Day summary: Transfer opt2: 20 km // Trekking 6 to 7 hours // Grade 2 or 4 of 5 // Home stay.

Day 4: Nam Dan – Nam Nhung Village – Nam Choong Village (B;L;D)


– Breakfast and then leaving Nam Chien Village at 08.30 am. Transfer 14 km over the Gio mountain pass through thick rain forest to the southern side.
– Enjoying a leisure walk for 3 hours through Nam Nhung and Khau Rom village of the Tay and Zao peoples along the narrow valley of the Nam Li River. Lunch break near a suspension bridge.
– Cross the Nam Li River to the southern bank, trekking uphill to Quang Thuong Village. Trek downhill to Nam Choong Village of the Zao peoples which is beautifully set on the southern bank of Nam Li River and endowed by nature with a mineral hot spring.
Day summary: Transfer: 14 km // Trekking 6 hours // Grade 2 of 5 // Home stay.

Day 5: Nam Choong Village – Cao Son – Trung Son – Tan Minh (B; L; D)


– Today is the most interesting day of the whole trip for the superb natural scenery which changes after every quarter trekking but is also the greatest challenge so far.
Departure at 08.30 am. Trekking for almost the whole day uphill the Chieu Lung Thi mountain range from Nam Li Valley via the center of Quang Nguyen Commune, to Cao Son Village of the H’mong and Zao. Continuing through the thick forest to Trung Son Village of the Nung peoples and then onto Tan Minh village of the Zao peoples.
– Explore this village of the Red Zao for the rest of the afternoon.
Day summary: Transfer: 0 km // Trekking 6 hours // Grade 4 of 5 // Home stay.

Day 6: Tan Minh – Ho Thau – Ho Xan – Nam Son – Panhou or Nam An eco-site ( B; L; – )


– It is an easy day today. The trail gets mostly downhill which offers marvelous view of the Nam Dich Valley.
– 3 hours trekking from Tan Minh Village to the center of Ho Thau commune and then continuing to Ho Xan, Xin Chai village of the Zao and Nung peoples.
– Picnic lunch break by the Nam Dich River and there is chances for swimming in the clear water of the river.
– Crossing the river, take a leisure walk for nearly 3 hours along the southern bank of the river, then through stunning valley of the Doan Ket Village, Nam Son Commune for nearly 3 hour.
– Picked up and then transfer to Thong Nguyen commune (Panhou eco-site) or to Nam An eco-site at Tan Tien Commune Bac Quang District.
Day summary: Transfer: 45 km // Trekking 5 hours // Grade 3 of 5 // Dinner and accommodation at the Panhou eco site or Nam An

Day 7: Panhou – Hanoi (- ; -;-)


– Full day transfer about 7 (272 km) along the national road 2 via Tuyen Quang, Viet Tri to Hanoi.
NOTE: TLV provides only vehicle for transfer today only.
